Hey everyone, I just recently put together a new computer. Now, here are the specs--

Pentium G3220 CPU
R9 270 GPU
MSI H81i Mini-ITX Motherboard
Hitachi HDD from my old laptop

Now I know the pentium is a bit of a bottleneck on the GPU, but I found the R9 for $100 and bought it before someone else did. Anyways, the problem I am having is that the computer is acting really weirdly. The monitor's resolution is locked at 800 x 680 (I think) even though it is using an HDMI v1.4 adapter and the monitor is 1080p capable. What I believe is happening is that the old drivers are clashing with the new hardware and causing the PC to barf all over me trying to get it to work. I tried downloading the drivers onto a USB since my new computer doesn't have an Optical Drive (didn't think I needed one). However, it won't even recognize that the USB is there. Any help would be appreciated!

with new hardware it's easiest to do a clean install. Retrieve the key if it's not an oem Windows copy and start over, it really is easier than dealing with this sort of thing.

You should be able to (with another PC) create USB install media, assuming your BIOS supports booting from USB

I'm pretty sure it is an OEM version of Windows since it came out of my laptop...

And yes, my ethernet is plugged in and it still does not give me any networks to choose from. How does the booting from USB thing work? My BIOS does support it. Could you please tell me?

You have to have a USB drive that's bootable, if you're going to install windows, you need an ISO of whichever Windows and a program like Win2Flash to create the bootable drive (also a working key, OEM keys are tied to hardware, so even if you can get the driver issue sorted, the Windows copy will likely invalidate itself), or people like to use Linux sticks for recovery or diagnostics.
