I dont plan to overclock since its clocked at 4ghz. I want something that is bios compatible with it. I want answers from someone who owns one since or had one that knows what they are doing with it. Alot of motherboards on pcpartpicker say that its incompatible because of the bios crap. HELP ME D:

This is gonna be a bigger badder build for me. My current one is a gtx 750 ti with a fx 8150. It isnt giving me the performance I need. Thats why I am getting a better build. PLEASE HELP, I NEED A COMPATIBLE MOTHERBOARD!!!

Is a MSI maximus vii hero good enough?

My budget is under 300$ for a motherboard.

PS I dont want any advice for anything but the cpu and motherboard since people like to go off topic.

PERFERED RED AND BLACK

The Hero is not made by MSI... The MSI GD65 is comparable feature for feature, quality wise, etc with the Asus Hero

MSI GD565 w/ 4790k - $480 ..... saves $65

Newegg eviews on the Hero are 72% favorable (4 or 5...
a asus maximuss VII Hero or a asus sabertooth mk1, both are compatible out the box as your i7 is z97 chipset and the boards are both z97, both are around 200-250 dollars, the hero is arguably the best z97 ever made for price to performance and both will allow for high overclocks

EDIT: just saw you don't want to oc, a h97 board will do

If you willing to spend a bit more on the motherboard, the i7 4790k with ASUS VII Hero is a good combo.
ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Killer with any locked i7/i5 cpu will work fine.
M.2 is support on H97 as well. Z97 is more overclocking featured whilst h97 retains the basic of Z97 without the overclocking.

Newegg eviews on the Hero are 72% favorable (4 or 5 eggs) and 23% negative (1 or 2 eggs). MSi does a lil better on the favorable at 76% and 16% on the negative.

The other thing ya wanna be aware of is that it has been reported by multiple users that the Asus Hero is afflicted with the BIOS Clock Freeze Bug which was common with Asus Z87 boards. A BIOS fix was announced June 11 but we have not seen it yet. Check newegg reviews (6/17/2014 7:07:17 AM review) and Asus RoG Forms. Unless you spend a lot of time overclocking , saving or loading BIOS profiles and stress testing this may not be an issue.
