Hello,

I have a real big issue with my blue yeti microphone (USB version). It's been working all week up until now and It's actually being recognised by windows and installing the drivers but when I go to individual programs, the microphone doesn't work. I go to recording programs and that doesn't work either and also tested on teamspeak and skype.

I read all over the place the cable that comes with the microphone is absolutely dreadful and In this case, I believe mine was as It's been giving me problems in the past. I usually unplugged, plugged in back in and restarted the program but it's not working this time. I went out and bought a new cable and that also didn't fix my problem.

I bought the microphone about a 12 to 18 months ago and I still have the box, the manual, and the receipt (so i hope) somewhere. What can I do since the microphone has pretty much just failed on me?

Update: Just found the receipt of purchase and purchased the microphone on 06/12/2012 (My birthday :)!

I have a Yeti aswell so i think i may be able to help here, what exactly is the problem, will it not pick up anything when you record.
Have you tried pressing the mute button (sounds stupid but i've done it a few times)
Finally have you made sure that your audio preferences in the programs such as Adobe Audition are set correctly, one slightly wrong setting and it unfortunately will not work :)

Yes, unfortunately the mute button on the Blue Yeti can not detect users clicks sometimes,
I've found that when it does that the best thing to do is wait 1-2 seconds and press again, with an emphasis on pressing the center of the mute button to ensure it actually makes contact with the physical button underneath.

If this is a problem with your Yeti I'm afraid its only going to get worse over time, Its not hardware breaking, but it can be quite annoying having to press the button repeatedly to get it to Mute/Un-mute.

Alternatively you could just Mute and Un-mute inside the software you are using, but that is not always a good way of ensuring absolutely no noise is transmitted or recorded.
