High Pitch whine coming from HDD goes away after placing fingers on top of it

Lately my desktop has been making a very high pitch ear piercing sound, and I have traced the noise to be emitting from my 500Gb Western Digital hard drive. At first I thought it was coil whine coming from either my GPU or PSU and after upgrading both it persisted.

Today while I was running the Western Digital diagnostic software during the extended test the closer it got to finishing the scanning of all 976 million sectors it would stop the counter of whatever sector it was scanning along with the time remaining countdown, and the noise would blair from the hard drive. As soon as the noise stopped the scan would continue, but then the whine would come back and the scan would stop again.

When I opened the side of my computer case to get a better look and listen to what was going on, I placed my index and middle finger together and lightly touched the top of my hard drive. As soon as I touched the hard drive, the noise would stop and the scan would continue on until I removed my fingers again.

Right now as of writing this from my phone I have my hard drive out of my computer still wired up and am running the extended test again to try and repeat the noise. When the scan is finished i'm going to put the hard drive back in my computer but in a different position to see if it will either repeat or stop the whining.

Why would the physical placement of my hard drive be making such a high pitch whine?

Heres a video I took of the sound and when it goes away after I touch it
