Hi, I have ATT dsl 3mb and was wondering if I should by a separate dsl modem or one of the combo dsl modem/routers. I obviously want to get at much speed as possible. Also, I need a router with the most coverage possible as i live in a very big, long house. Any info would be very helpful. thx

It's entirely up to you.

Modem/router combos are particularly popular because they are compact and easy to administrate, but some of them might not offer as much performance as a standalone modem coupled with a very highend router.

I personally have used separate devices in every premise since I first got DSL in the late 1990s.

A modem/router combo is more convenient, but the jack of all trades is the master of none applies here. The routers in them tend to not have the latest standards, and also don't have the best range.

If you want to maximize speed of the DSL connection, as well as the wireless coverage, than I would go with a separate modem, and a separate router. In terms of routers, look for an AC model.
