Space in between Gpu and case

So I might be getting a case that has a max gpu length of 315 mm and the gpu I might be getting is 305 mm long and there is only 1 cm of space in between the case and gpu. So is there a "should have" length in between the gpu and the case?

Depends. Are there any external power cable requirements for your graphics card and if so, where are they located? On the rear of the card, you're likely going to need more than just 1 cm of space. If the additional power connectors are on the top of the card, then it's a non-issue.
