if I could get an i7 for a little bit over 100$ I would think about it, and no liquid cooling please.

you could get a good Xeon for around 200-220 bucks.

I could switch the ram to 2x4 gb right?
And what is the difference betwween that hdd and the seagate baracuda 1tb 7200 rpm
Also, what would be another case option because I don't particularly like that one?

Some Xeons are basically the same as i7's but they dont have built in graphics (which you wont be using anyhow) and they cant be overclocked. They are sometimes thought of as sever CPUs but they are totally capable of gaming too and are future proof because they have HT (HyperThreading technology) for up to 8 or even 12 cores.

Some other things to consider. If you really just want a GAMING PC only, a PC dedicated to gaming (as in that is the most stress it will see), then get an i5 4690K + a R9 290X. Will future proof you in terms of gpu RAM and high res/textures. The CPU will be wholly capapble for a long long time. The i7/Xeon too, and the FX 8 cores as well. CPU strength isnt so much an issue. For gaming you want a good GRAPHICS CARD. the graphics card matters much more than the CPU does when it comes to gaming. In any event, anything i5/FX 8 core and greater will not be bottlenecks to the gaming experience (not going back in time here, future thinking. games threaded to one and two cores era is dead outside of MMos and free games maybe.)

so far the best GPU budgeted has been the build with the GTX 770 which is stronger than the 280x.

and im telling you that the Xeon e3 1230 v3 is basically the same chip as the i7 4770k, just with the iGPU scrapped and the processor is locked (no overclocking except with FSB). I get he wants an i7 but not because its called the "i7" but probably because the hyperthreading appeals to him which the i7/Xeons have. this is what the i5 lacks. I also get you want to be future proof, and im saying you will be more future proof (and at a better value) investing in a stronger GPU with a lot of RAM for games with high textures at 1080p.
