So I am running windows 7 ultimate 64x on an asus M5A99FX PRO R2. and an AMDFX6300. 8 gigs of ram, etc.

Anyway... there is a beep. Not just any beep, but a random beep. Being rather anal about random noises, it seems to be slowly driving me insane. It started when I basically, did a fresh install of everything. Wanted to add an SSD, didn't have anything better to do so I just formatted everything and started from scratch. Mind you the PC now runs and works BETTER than it did before. Before I couldn't even access my bios for some odd reason, now I can. No components have changed other than the SSD being added for the OS.

No warning lights are on. Bios isn't stating that it needs updated. The beep is coming direct from the mobo (unplug the speakers and you still hear it, plus I keep windows sounds off) My temps are all low with the CPU sitting around 36C. The PC itself is running like a dream.

Then a beep. D:

One beep, from the mobo, every few hours.... my room mates are starting to notice.

If anyone knows what it is, please tell me :l

Is it a long or a short beep?

What CPU cooler are you using? It's possible that what you're hearing is a CPU fan warning - it'll sound if your CPU fan RPMs fall below a certain level. If you go into your BIOS, look for your fan settings (with your UEFI, I believe it's on the Monitor tab). For the CPU fan (Q-Fan), there should be an option for setting the level for the alarm. I wouldn't set it for "Ignore" but you could try dropping it one level from it's default and see if you still get the beep.

What BIOS version are you running? Should state on the BIOS main menu.

Bios version 2501, updated this march. The CPU cooler I'm using is Cooler Master TX3. Just heard the beep again... I'm going to run off an check my BIOS to see what its set on.

The beep is about a second long.

Ok, so BIOS had it set where it gave a warning when it dropped below 600rpm. which is weird because I'm at about 1920 at the moment and I still get the beep. I get this beep even when I'm not using the computer. Though I can't say if I hear it or not in sleep mode, now that I think about it.

Either way, I set it to ignore, will see what happens. :l
