I have a Radeon HD7770 1GB
like the title suggests, it is meant to have 1GB of vram but only shows as having 740MB, the graphics card still thinks it has 1GB and overloads the vram and every time I try to play a game, it bluescreens... Any ideas for a fix?

(card is outside of waranty, and has never been overclocked)

What motherboard are you using? Possibly reset the bios settings.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 revision 1 with F7 bios. Full specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD FX8150 3.6GHz
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 revision 1
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7770
PSU: CoolerMaster 550watt
HDD: Hitachi 3TB sata3
SSD: Samsung 840 evo 128GB
RAM: 1 x 8GB Crucial Ballistix 1600MHz DDR3

I have reset the bios settings to failsafe defaults, and the problem is still there.

Strange... You have a very nice machine, too. Try reseating the card and dusting it out? How long have you had it? Sound like it may be dying... Either the GPU or power supply most likely are bad.

Thanks, I have had the card for about 2 and a half years now, I have had the PSU for about 6 months (my old 420 watt died :(  )

I think it might be the card that died, my cousin has the exact same one in his PC, so I switched them for a day to see if it was the card or just "Windows being Windows." His card works fine in my PC with no problems.

Any suggestions on a reasonably cheap graphics card? I have my eyes set on a R9-270X.

Yep, it lived a long happy life. 2 and a half years is around the upgrade window? I would REALLY go for a r9 280 or what for the 285. Prices have been dropping like CRAZY.

Don't get the 270x, this is quite a bit faster: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IXI5AT2/ref=mp_s_a_1_2...
