Hey every one, so im making a small guide to try and help people who are having trouble OCing there Pentium G3258k. Please take in mind that it may or may not be the same for your components. I will be using the MSI H81M-P33 for my MOBO and obliviously the G3258 CPU.
lets begin.
1st step -
You want to download the latest BIOS for your MOBO.

2nd step-
You want to download all your drivers ETC . . . .

3 step-
Play some games run your pc just to see everything if stable .

4th step-
Get a program to stress test your PC after you OC AIDA64 if recomended.

5th step-
Lets overclock ! :D So you want to reboot your PC and enter the BIOS in my case to get into the bios i use "DEL" key. PS, if you don't know how to get into your BIOS then you maybe arent ready to overclock.

6th step-
Once in bios you want to head over to your OC setting (this might be different on a asus mobo) once your in there head over to CPU ratio and high light it, you want highlight it by useing the arrow keys and scrolling down until you reach Core ratio, So here is were most people get confused because you cant change the ratio from AUTO ??? Well most people think you cant but heres how you do it! :D

7th step-
To change your CPU ratio just highlight CPU RATIO (and use the (+ / -) keys on your keyboard and boom easy as that !

8th step-
After you have punched the setting your happy with just save your work and exit and reboot your pc ! :D

9th step-
Run AIDA 64 and stress test to make sure your stable if your happy with your oc and are also stable then congrats you just overclocked you G3258k! :D

Hope this guide helps :)

I achieved 4.0GHz on stock cooler not the best but im happy soon ill get a h100i 4.8GHz fingers crossed

Great guide, I want to OC and this is my first time. Is it ok if I OC my g3258 to 4.2ghz on the stock cooler? You did it to 4.0ghz and what cpu temps did you get under heavy load? Also you did not tweak the voltage settings, its fine to leave it on auto?

The cooler doesn't make you magically get a higher clockspeed, it only helps you maintain cooler temps with the overclock. How high you can overclock is all based on luck, how lucky were you able to buy one of the chips produced by intel in the top 5% that were able to get to 4.8ghz...or were you unlucky you got a chip that can only get as high as 3.8ghz. For my chip, the highest I got it running stable at is 4.2ghz, it wont even try to boot into windows at 4.4ghz.

I have MSI H81M-P33 and G3258 processor with stock cooler, the maximum clock I can go 24/7 stable is 4.0GHz@1.2013v (auto).
At 4.1GHz it will be unstable, it sometimes boot into windows then BSOD.
At 4.2GHz it will auto restart when you see the windows logo.
At 4.3GHz it will freeze on BIOS start up screen and you won't be able to press DEL to do setting, you must clear CMOS.
At 4.4GHz it will auto restart and show BIOS setting fails to boot up, you have to press F1 to do setting again.

Hey KyleTheCat,
I have a question. Which mainboard have you in your PC? Because I can't overclock on my MSI H81M-P33 motherboard.
Please answer me?

Sincerely,
Your UBR

Hey mate, sorry I never messaged you - been busy with work and only just saw your "message" - My system was overclocked but it was too unstable - Msi H81M-P33, Intel Pentium G3258, Corsair Vengance LP 8Gb ram, Kingston 300V SSD now, ThermalTake Versa H13, Cpu Cooler: DeepCool Twin fan - from ebay.co.uk - took about 2 monthys to come because of china
