Hi TH

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop which i have been using for about 3 years. I have just recently bought my friends old computer which is a massive upgrade from my laptop. Well the problem i am having is that as im waiting on a new hard drive to come i plugged my laptops hard drive into the computer and tried to run that. Its running Windows 7 and its gets to the 'Starting Windows' screen then 3 secs later, it blue screens; every time. The screen flashes to fast for me to get an error code or the reason its blue screening. But when i put the HDD in my laptop it works perfectly.

Side note: the computer i bought works perfectly fine as we tested it before i bought it.

i hope you guys can help :D

Solution
Yes, taking a laptop drive out and putting it in a desktop almost certainly gives the result you're seeing. The hardware is far too different.

Solution? Wait for the new hard drive and install Windows on that.

Would i see the same result if i formatted the laptop HDD and clean installed windows on it?

It will work fine.
But then you're going through the whole process 3 times
1. Install Windows on the ex-laptop drive
2. Install Windows on the new HDD when it comes in
3. Reinstall Windows on the laptop drive once you put it back in the laptop

How long until the new HDD arrives?

Thats a very good point which i didnt think about.

Well i did get the HDD but it was faulty and im sending it back today. I think im just being impatient as its my first gaming pc and just want to get it up and running.

After you noting about all the steps ill be going through i think ill just wait the extra 2 weeks for the HDD to come.

Cheers for the help though 'USAFRet' :)
