Hi, guys. I currently have a blue pair of G.skill ripjaws X 16gb ram.

I just got a new Asus z97-a motherboard, which has a silver/gold color scheme. The color of my ram really bugs me, and I have searched on the internet, and, it's possible to install aftermarket heatsinks, or to spray paint my cooler. But, do you guys think it's safe?

Changing the RAM heatsinks will probably invalidate the warranty, and painting the cooler fins is probably a bad idea.

With gold aftermarket heat sinks. Although I feel that they can run pretty fine without those heat-sinks. Heatsinks become needed if you have bad/mediocre airflow and at the 2133 and up range if you ask me. But DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. It is entirely your responsibility to whatever you do. By doing this, it is possible that you damage your hardware.

P.S This will void your warranty. Also - that tutorial is for Ripjaws Z and you have X. Don't know if it is the same with Z and X.

Metallic Wrinkle paint works great for dissipating heat if that's what your worried about.
