Why won't my monitor work!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I really need you're help!!!!!

I've had my computer for a while and but I never used it until about 2 months ago. I went on it today and my hard dive would work but my monitor wouldn't turn on?! I've unplugged the connecting thingy and turned it off at the switch and tried to restart it but it wouldn't work!

Calm down...

First remove the cable connecting the monitor to the computer then, turn on the monitor..

The monitors OSD should appear indicating no connection. If the monitor is working.

if the pc is a few years old and it been sitting unpowered for a few months the cmos battery may have failed. if it did some mb wont post. if the cmos drained all the way and the mos reset and you have both a gpu and onboard video the mb may have fallen over to the onboard video. if it not a cmos issue it could bad power to a dead part. try pulling the ram see if there a cmos beep code failure or ram fault led come on. that tell you if your system is trying to post.
