So im planning on building a new PC wich ill be using to play games and designing a bit (Photoshop and Illustrator).

I saw the retina display in the macbook pro's, and its just awesome. I would like to have that display on my new pc. How could i achieve this? What should i look for?

What monitor would i need?
What GPU would i need?
Any extra software needed?

Just one monitor, no need for multiple displays. I would also like to know a cheap version, the recommended version, and the high-end version of this setup (if possible)

IF theres a lot to chose, what are the specifications i should look for on the monitor and the gpu?

More about : retina display desktop

Find out what res the retina display you saw was, and buy a monitor of the same size with the same res... it's that simple. Retina Display is just Apples marketing name

Your best choice right now is the Dell UP2414Q Display at 185ppi: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c...

Great for color accuracy and professional applications. Gaming will be decent (ive played on a Dell U2711HM for past 12 months)...though youll need a very substantial GPU to play games at decent settings.

The larger 4K displays will decrease the ppi...but can be set back further from the user, which creates a similar effect as a higher PPI closer up.

I'd recommend at least an AMD R9 290X, or an SLI/CXF solution (i.e., SLI 780s, CXF R9 290s).

Good luck friend!

Ok so what i should be looking for is High Resolutions on "small" screens right?

And to drive that "beast" with games i would need at least 780's sli right?

e/. IPS is just to look from different angles? or what does it really do?
