Hi I'm very sorry if this isn't properly placed.

My issue currently is I have a amd 9500 quad core 2.20ghz, I purchased a amd phenom 2 x6 1065t 3.4 ghz processor refurbished.

I swapped them out put the thermal paste and heat sink on with no issues.

When I turn it on it all powers up but the operating light doesnt light up windows 8 won't start up.

I'm concerned whether I just got a bum processor or I just don't know if I didn't do something right

What motherboard do you have?
You did check that the old CPU has an AM2/AM2+ socket, and the new one has AM3 socket, right?

I`m not sure if the new CPU should work, but give us your motherboard model to check it out.

Also, did you try re-installing the OS? Since you have a new CPU, this includes new drivers. Hence your already installed Windows will not run with the new CPU. At least that`s how I see it.

Edit: Check this for more information.

Yes the old processor is am2+ where the new one is am3, they are interchangeable yes?

I have not reinstalled the operating system I didn't know that may be a problem :/.
