Hello,

I am making my first computer build for both gaming and video editing and I just want to be sure that everything is okay. Any recommendations on various parts, how parts work together, or de-recommendations for what i've chosen? I wanted to ask ye more experienced if I am missing anything.

Here is the build i've chosen so far.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K
MB: MSI Z97-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
RAM: G.Skill Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
SSD: Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
VC: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card
PS: SeaSonic M12II 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case

Is there anything I missed? I know that some parts don't always go well together and I just wanted to be sure.

Thank you,
TK

The parts are compatible. And that's a nice motherboard! Why the huge PSU wattage? You could save and go smaller than that, unless you want to CrossFire two AMD cards together in the future.

Here is the recommended PSU wattage for the HD 7950
  • 500 Watt Power Supply is required
  • 850WattPower Supply is recommended for CrossFireX System

Currently, I do not have a strong set budget, but i'm pretty much spending 220 for this graphics card. I read that this gaming card was 440 before, and now it is 200, so i jumped on it. What is the current gen amd card? Also, would it be bad to use this last gen card, or would it mess with the computer somehow?

  • The seasonic is about the same price as the other 650W Power Supply I was about to get. I just like being on the safe side when it comes to power supply. I don't fully know if i'll ever crossfire, but if the PSU can handle it, it sounds very interesting.
