I have an Acer Aspire MC605.

I had Win 7 32 bit for a long time but my machine has 8 GB of ram. As I want to update my graphics card and such I decided to go to a 64 bit OS. For some reason I decided not to go Win 7 64 bit but instead get the Win 8.1 64 bit.

It installed okay, but I noticed that my display is limited. I got my Asus drivers CD and put it in only to find out the CD only works with Win 7.

What do I do now to get all the drivers I need? Do I have to try to seek everything out manually? I am using slim drivers but it does not seem to be suggesting Acer drivers but Microsoft items? I would feel more comfortable using the drivers that were supplied and then start checking for updates.

Thank you.

Yes. I went there but my monitor has no driver which I think is the display issue, but I guess it may be the graphics card.

your first clue should be no support at all or atleast I cant find it here

http://mm.acer.com/ac/en/MM/content/drivers

so anything you do other than what it came with when it was bought new is at own risk

I did find the MC605. It only has a VGA card listed...so will see what happens. I never thought drivers would be a problem. Thanks for the advice.

I see there's an Intel AMT driver listed - that's important. I'd next install the Chipset driver. Then the audio, video (VGA), LAN, Card Reader and Wireless.

Video is going to be a problem, I see - you'll need to see if you have an Intel, NVidia or AMD video chipset. (There's a good chance you won't be allowed to install The Wrong Ones - they should fail to install, in fact - the right one should be the only one that responds positively.)

All of the needed drivers are there and, yes, you'll need to download each of them and install them, one at a time.

I tried the VGA file listed. It stated it was for 8.1 and is 270 mb big. It failed however.

I have a GT620 right now. Will try to find a driver for that. I am getting a R9270X next week.

I have to say my PC seems to be running pretty good without all these drivers!!

That did the trick. Thanks for the help and slimdrivers really impressed me as well. Boot time for 8.1 seems slower than 7 was, but I am sure I will work out the kinks :)
