If you're getting 8.x there's no reason not to go with 8.1. Performance wise it's not a huge difference but it's newer with a more refined user interface and lots of improvements all around. Of course even if you got 8.0 you could upgrade to 8.1 for free but might as well go directly to 8.1.

Might as well get the 8.1. You should upgrade to that anyway if you get 8.
There is zero difference for 'gaming'. And overall, unless it is the same price, there is almost zero need for Pro in either case.
