Hi,
I recently built a PC, everything went smoothly until it came to downloading the OS, for some reason when I put the CD in it wont recognize it. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? Help please.

Solution
Could be various reasons for the problem. You might need to change your boot order to make your motherboard load the cd fisrt. You can do that under your bios then boot options.

It could be that the installation 'cd' is actually a dvd and you only have a cd reader.

It could be a bad disk.

You could try installing something like ubuntu (linux) and verifying that everything from the drive and cd are working correctly.

So its an external DVD ? plugged using usb port ?

What makes you think the disk can't be copied to USB? That tool uses an .iso image but you can copy the contents of the DVD to .iso first, or google instructions to copy the contents of the DVD directly from the drive.

Example: http://arstechnica.com/business/2009/12/the-usb-flash-drive/2/

I was reading into it and it said OEM versions can't be downloaded on to a USB but I'll give it a shot now.
