Hello, I'm new here. I'm planning to build a mid-range multi-tasking and gaming rig for about INR 70,000 within 3 months. Below is my selected configuration.

CPU : Intel Core i5-4690
MB : Asus H97M-Plus
RAM : Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1600C11 -2 x 4GB
GPU : Asus GTX650TI-OC-2GD5
PSU : Corsair CX600-600VA
Case : Cooler Master Force 500/K281
HDD : Toshiba DT01ACA100 - 1TB
UPS : APC 800VA
Display : Samsung S20C300BL - 900p

Questions,
Is the config okay ?
Is the PSU okay with Haswell ?
Should I buy an SSD ?
Should I wait for Broadwell ?

I'm not planning to OC anything other than provided. I'm going to do a lot of multi-tasking as I'm an electronics engineer. But I lack experience to select parts based on price-performance ratio. In India, parts are bit costly too. Any suggestion w'd be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Solution
Consider the R7 260X or the GTX 750 Ti over the GTX 650 Ti, it's just a few more bucks, and the performance increase is quite a bit, if there's not other doubts i think i've helped with everything i could man, hope i could have been more useful, as i said, consider getting th GTX 750 Ti if you're into Nvidia, it's a whole generation ahead for 20 bucks more.

Best of luck :D

You will probably be told to change the PSU
On my recommendation is that the best GPU you can get for that price? can you send us the site of where you are buying? i believe that an AMD card within the price range of a 650Ti is much better
-Your config is decent but it can be better (a GTX 650Ti for a 1200 USD is insane you should be getting a GTX 770 if you lived in NA)
-The PSU can be better too, i need the site you are using so i can recommend you stuff
-You can decide buying or not an SSD after you get your rig modified a bit
-Haswell is pretty powerful, people are still getting Ivy Bridge and we are almost at Broadwell, there's nothing wrong with Haswell

Hey Remixex, that reply was quick. I had some problems with my ISP. Sorry for the delay.
-I've read some bad reviews about the Corsair CX600 and found that Corsair doesn't manufacture their PSUs either but by CWT, Seasonic etc. So I'm planning to buy the Seasonic S12II-620. I haven't seen any Corsair or Seasonic PSU's internal components. So I can't make a statement about them. But I think Seasonic is good.

-Actually I'm getting that GTX650TI-OC-2GD5 for about $160. Isn't that enough for medium gaming on 1600x900 ?

-I'm not going to buy anything from online. I can get all the parts from a local retailer for a wholesale price.
Thank you for your answer. :)

It is a $1166 USD build and you are only spending $160 on the GPU? sorry man i don't get it, how much are each of those parts?
I still think a 650Ti is poor for upcoming gaming (we are at 800s, or near them, now) in that budget getting an R9 280X or a GTX 760 would be the minimal for that budget (my pc is 500 USD, 2 years old, and i am using an HD 7750, which is comparable to a non-ti GTX 650....that's why the price of your pc amazes me for the parts you are gtting, it doesn't fit)

So you are saying that I should spent some more on my GPU. What about 650TI Boost ? I was considering the HD7770 at first but heard about some problems with the drivers etc. What do you say about that ? Are the drivers stable now ? Can I work on Linux with that card ? The 650TiBoost is powerful I think. Will the lack of Physx in AMD card affect the game play ? Could you please give some more details about your system ?

Below is my expected maximum expenses. I always round the price to the nearest multiple of thousand in INR (eg. INR 1788 -> INR 2000).

CPU : INR 14000 (US$233)
Mobo : 9000 (150)
RAM : 6000 (100)
GPU : 10000 (166)
PSU : 6000 (100)
Case : 4000 (66)
HDD : 4000 (66)
UPS : 4000 (66)
Display : 7000 (116)
Speaker : 2000 (33)
DVD/WR : 1000 (16)
Mouse&Keyboard : 1000 (16)
Total(Excl. Taxes) : INR 68000 (US$1133)

The max. I can spent is INR 70,000, exclusive of taxes. We have 5% VAT here. :)

I have the following questions
How much is an R7 260X over there? and a GTX 750 Ti? better options for a similar price in the US, also how big of a jump are cards like GTX 760 or R9 280X?
In that build you have a very powerful CPU but a weak GPU, getting that rig any less than an R9 280X would feel underpowered for what you paid

Below are the price for the cards collected from indian websites like flipkart, snapdeal etc.

Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB - INR 11140 (USD 185)
MSI R7 260X 2GB OC - INR 10700 (USD 178)
Zotac GTX760 2GB - INR 17900 (USD 298)
Sapphire R9 280X 3GB - INR 22950 (USD 382)

Like I said parts are costlier in India and online shops are no exception. Indian online retailers do not reduce price even if the international price decline. :)
