SSD upgrades are almost always worth it. It'll provide a nice speed boost and make your computer feel like new. I say go for it.

What are your other specs? Like the previous commenter said an SSD will usually always make your system feel much faster but if you have a much older and slower CPU you may not see the improvements that you have read about.

I am curious about this "conversion kit" you mentioned, there shouldn't be any thing to it other than dropping the SSD into the rig, unless you are talking about the USB connector used for cloning your current HDD.

No problem putting a SSD in your comp according to the specs in your post.

asus m5a97 R2.0 has 6 ea. SATA3 ports.

My SSD of choice: Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) $109.99

I have 4 Crucial SSD's of various models and sizes and not a clunker in the bunch. A Windows 7 install will use about 22-25GB. I also put my drivers on the SSD.

Totally missed your specs in your signature, yeah with your current system you will see much better performance with an SSD. Like Delroy said the MX100 is a nice drive at a really good price point.
