Hi guys,

I have an old computer with the following specs :

Asus P5Q-E
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 overclocked at 4.0 ghz
4gb ddr2 ram
Nvidia gtx 275
SSD

My system was very good at the time but now it's old...So I was thinking about changing the video card with a GTX 770. I have the budget only for a video card.

I know my motherboard has a pci-e 2.0 but it seems unanimous that it won't make any difference over a 3.0 slot.

Nevertheless, my system isn't recent. What do you think about this ?

WIll my 4.0 ghz cpu be able to drive this little baby ? I'm sure I won't have full performance but if I can run games at 1080p with decent settings, I would be happy.

Thanks !

Solution
GTX 660 or 750 Ti will not bottleneck. It might be a slight one when the game is really CPU intensive, but since yours is OCed, only games which utilize quad core like BF4 will result in some bottleneck.
This would result in a massive bottlenck, your system is not so welcoming to any card up from R7 260X or GTX 750 Ti. The GPU will be an absolute waste of money. GTX 750 Ti will be enough for 50+ FPS on medium settings on latest titles, but the CPU will still hold it back, not as severe as for 770 though.

what about using this gtx 750 ti to replace my 275 ? Will I see that much difference ? I was looking at some benchmarks and it seems it's not THAT a huge upgrade in my case...

edit : or maybe a 660 ?

i think its time you should upgrade your processor, motherboard and ram along with a good psu.
you have chosen gtx 770 and u are now at gtx 750 ti so thats a serious drop in performance this would not happen if u had a updated system.
