I have an old 720p Dell monitor just laying around that has a DVI and VGA input and was wondering could I use my primary 1080p BenQ monitor for games via HDMI, and the second for having web pages open, also how would this affect my performance in game? I have a MSI 770 OC 2GB

Yes you can use both. You have nothing to loose in trying it out since you have everything just 'laying' around. If you use both monitors while gaming, I think you will see a 15-25 fps decrease with your GPU. If you just game on the 1080p and leave the other just on with web pages maybe only a 5-10 fps drop. Either way, your GPU is still gonna be used to display to the second one so you will see some fps drop in any case.
