Okay so ive got all my parts together but im having alot of trouble trying to find a case with good cooling. Ive been looking at the define r4 but with the gpu not having a rear exhaust im worried that itll get to hot in the case. Any case ideas would be great and fan setup would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks.

Would the phantom 410 be good for airflow?

It's okay, I prefer the corsairs but the 410 will be fine

With either case could I get away with 4 fans? I think the mobo only has 4 connectors and I didnt really want to use the split connectors. Ive herd there not too good for the mobo.

Also I found the corsair 500r with white sides. Would that be a good one? The only thing I dont like is that big ass fan on the side.

It won't get too hot in the define r4. If you only have one gpu it will be fine. The windowed version has room for six fans. I have that case and currently use five fans. It stays cool enough and whisper quiet. It's a great case I recommend you check it out.

450D it is. How many extra fans should I buy for it and possibly which kind? The corsair af120 proformance look good?

What fans would you get for the r4. I think it comed with 2 140s. Should I replace those?

If tou don't oc, one at fron for intake, one at top for exhaust, one at back for exhast, those come already with the case, I'd get one more corsair air series fan for front intake, it's a great case, fully metal unlike the panhtom

Should I get the quiet or performance fans?

I'd go quiet, but mainly vause I don't like noise, go for whatever suits your needs best

I have the corsair 450D, and it's excellent. Running stock cooling with a 3570K overclocked to 4.3ghz and a superclocked GTX 770. Cool and quiet...

It came down between the R4 and the 450D for me, but I wanted a DVD drive and didn't like the hinged from on the R4. The 450D has great dust filters and made a really clean looking build with a modular PSU.

So 2 in the front. 1 rear and 1 in the top rear slot? Also with regards to the vengance pro ram. Is a pull effect on the cpu cooler and different than a pull? Im pretty partial to the looks of the ram.

Best solution

Yes, front as intake, top and back as exhaust, if you want good looking ram corsair dominator platinum are quite nice, or g skill ripjaws and you can have a push on cpu maybe, or pull since you have good airflow, experiment with both, see which achieves better results

If I have to use a pull setup should I replace the fan on the 212 evo with a cosair sp120?

Nah the fan on the evo is fine but if you can afford it I don't see why not, can you even swap the fan on the evo?

Not too sure. Is the dominator platinum better than the vengance pro? I have a good budget for it. I was planning on buying an asus g750jw for like $2500. Pretty much try to go better for cheaper.

The dominators just look better, but you might have to get low profile ram, not sure about that :/

If I did a pull effect would I still need lp ram? If a push effect was better could I just use ram slots 2 and 4?

Sorry about all the questions. Its my first build so im kinda nervous about spending all this money and it not fitting together right. Im upgrading from 1gen 360 and a cq61 compaq laptop. Sad I know. Lol

Seems okay but to be safe why not just get the low profile ones? Some ppl have problems with tgat cooler and vengeance ram, it might be better to get low profile ram to be safe and 100% sure it'll work

Whats the best looking lp ram? Or best performance? I like the g. Skills set but the blue wont match the mobo. But if its good guess I can mix up colors

Is there an air cpu cooler that would fit high profilr ram? I dont know about liquid cooling since im not ocing. Im also scared of it leaking. Also what about the trident x? There 2400
m

August 29, 2014 1:33:37 PM

Yeah that could work, you can get a low profile cpu cooler instead? Like the noctua nh d12s
m

l
August 29, 2014 1:35:00 PM

The trident x is CAS 10 and 1.65v. The mobo uses 1.5v like the CAS 9 1.5v vengeance pro. Can I use the tridents?

It's just easier to go 1866 imo, you need to go into bios to do xmp settings etc in order for cpu to accpet the 2400mhz
