New GPU confusion

I bought a new 750ti today. I uninstalled old drivers, installed new drivers, downloaded latest drivers for GPU, and optimized my WoW through the GeForce program. I notice NO difference from my 550 whatsoever. Didn't think I had to do anything else but install. Any help? I'm sure once I get another CPU it'll hopefully be like how I expected it to be but I figured with a way better GPU it would increase atleast FPS significantly...

Nope. How and what would I need to do that? I mean I know what it is, just never thought I would have to. I have a big fan in my tower so overheating shouldn't be a problem, hopefully.

well.. overclocking phII cpus can be a bit tricky... but it's safe if you do it right. I don't think the 925 has an unlocked multiplier, which means it will be all fsb overclocking. That's ok, PHIIs tend to like that type of overclocking too.

here is a link to a fantastic guide... it has a lot of info both for beginners and vets. Take it slow, print up the guide, understand a lot of that guide won't make sense NOW, but as you get more familiar with what you're doing it will make a lot more sense, and fill out a lot of knowledge for you.

Take it slow... start on a weekend when you have nothing to do. You'll need a solid afternoon to get anywhere your first time. Keep a pad of paper close at hand and take notes as you go. I don't know what type of overclock you'll get, each chip is different, but any overclock will give you a boost in performance.

Pretty much all MMOs are CPU intensive... Even overclocking your current CPU i wouldn't expect much of an increase in performance.. Say if you are currently getting 20 fps and you overclock your CPU from 2.8 to 3.8 expect to see your FPS raise to maybe 24-26 fps. Your best option is to replace your CPU and motherboard (if you have the budget for that- and if you do let us know what your budget is and we can help you with the parts)...

where do you get those numbers from? 2.8ghz to 3.8ghz is a 35% increase in clock speed... and the phII sees a linear gain in power up until you get to around 3.8ghz in speed... so someone getting 20fps would see something around 27fps... not 24.

Yea I would rather just get a new CPU and motherboard if I would only see that much difference. I thought i was going to be able to see at least 90 fps and have somewhat 3D graphics. Everything looks so stoney its like 2D. I would be able to spend about $150ish maybe a little more but i really dont think i can get a good cpu and motherboard for that price

Really? going to call me out over you thinking it would be 1 fps higher?!?! 27 fps vs the 26 fps i said ( i said 24-26 btw not just 24)
