Trying to fix my friends computer and Ive hit a rock. The computer now will just keep auto reseting and will not fully start and at first I thought it was the motherboard, replaced it and it still kept doing it so i just troubleshot a bit and figured out it was the harddrve. Once i unplugged the hard drive the computer will start and get to the bios... ( this means there is no hard drive plugged in and its reaching the bios). So i put the hard drive back in and once again it just keeps auto reseting and wont fully boot. I take the hard drive home with me assuming its fried and most likely thats the reason its not booting, and it boots on my pc.. I now have no idea whats wrong.
Plug in the hard drive on his desktop, wont boot plug it in on my desktop, and it full starts. thats the gist of it if anyone has some ideas please help :(

Not likely a faulty drive if it boots in your PC. Drives aren't biased against machines and choose which ones to boot in. Did you try running a chkdsk on it in your machine?

You said it "sort of" boots in your PC but in your OP you said it fully boots?

havnt tried a CHKDSK, when i plug it onto my screen it gets me to the bios, and i can select it and i figure if i formated it it would work, but on my friends desktop when i plug it in it just auto resets, it will power up, turn on, and then the fan will slow down and reset and do it over and over again till i turn it off. Once i take out the SSD the computer runs and gets to the bios but it has no hard drive so i cant format or anything

Have you tried resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery in the problem machine?

Tried it awhile back when i thought it was the motherboard and it would keep reseting... then i sent back the motherboard and when it came back it kept doing the auto re set till i removed the SSD and it got to the bios

Right, make sure from a "mechanical" standpoint, although there's no moving parts, that it's functional. Is he concerned with any data on the drive? If not, re-format it and re-install Windows.

when I run the HD tune on the hard drive it tells me there are damaged sectors of the hard drive. Could this possible be the cause of why it is not compatible with his desktop?

Odd that bad sectors would cause it not to boot on one machine but work fine on the other, at the same time, bad sectors are bad sectors; the drive needs to be replaced. Get the data off of it, if he wants any.
