usb devices are not detected by the computer

Odd thing happened to me just a few hours ago. My front panel USB ports weren't working when I slipped in my thumb drives to d/l a small program. After doing the usual check device/ports/etc. in Win control panel and d/l'ing drivers, discovered that wiggling my case USB cable on the mobo fixed the problem.
It's always the last place ya' look.....
