So here i was building my pc like an idiot when i realized i get my OS tomorrow. Luckily i didn't put the cpu cooler on yet. I was going to leave it as is until my os arrived, but I felt uncomfortable leaving it unfinished, however i was also uncomfortable with continuing the build (as i have all the necessary parts except the OS) due to my worry of the thermal paste drying up by tomorrow. if applied to the CPU. So to put it in short: Is it okay to apply thermal paste and not turn the computer on until tomorrow or should i leave the build as is? If it helps the thermal compound i am using is Arctic Silver 5.

The thermal paste will be fine, your CPU heatsink should already have paste on it applied at the factory, don't put too much.

What's wrong with finishing the build if all you're missing is the OS? Might as well get it all together so you can throw in the disc, installed your OS and be up and running.
