So I bought a new GPU for my girlfriends computer. A PowerColor Radeon R9 280 TurboDuo.
It worked fine for about an hour and then the screen started raining pixels. It doesn't do it during windows startup, or when I get popup boxes to install programs/drivers.

I don't know what's wrong. The computer was running an HD4870 before which worked fine. I uninstalled the catalyst control center before I swapped the cards. I ran the newest Driver Uninstaller from Guru3D before I installed the newest non-beta driver for the R9 280 from the web-site.

Any help would be much appreciated. I've always built my computers from single components, but I've never had this problem.

Any other info?: All components were bought about half a year ago. PSU is 700W. Pixel rain is happening all the time atm. During games and idle. Looking at AMD Overdrive now in idle, it's saying ~38°C temp and either showing 0 or 87% activity. As I'm writing it seems to be getting worse.

No idea if it's a faulty GPU, driver issue or whatever. Again, any help would be great.

If replacing drivers didnt work, I'd assume something is wrong with the GPU.
Get a quick replacement card and test that.

As far as I know, PowerColor are not the best as they use the cheapest components. I have no experience with PowerColor myself, but from what I can see, the card is faulty. You should try to RMA it, and if you get the same issue, then you should start looking into the issue.

I'll be more than glad to help if the problem shows up again after your replace the card or if you decide to keep it, but I recommend replacing it, it solves most issues. Have a good one.

Looks like faulty VRAM so you will need to replace the card
