Currently, I have an i5 3570k, GTX 680 SC and 8GB of RAM (unsure of mhz)

Should I upgrade anything if I want to play things such as AC Unity and Far Cry 4?

You should still be able to run both AC Unity and Far Cry 4 closer to high/ultra graphical setting. You should not need to upgrade your system yet; you still have solid specifications. You should be able to max out both games if you're playing at 1080p.

Honestly you can't upgrade your GPU much, since upgrading to the GTX 780 may only provide minor improvements and will not be worth the cost. Your GTX 680 is equivalent to the GTX 770, so switching to the GTX 770 is irrelevant. Your RAM at 8GB is more than satisfactory for all games at the moment.

Your CPU, although on 3rd generation Ivy Bridge can't be upgraded much either. Upgrading to an i7 won't provide any gaming improvements, as most games only utilise 4-cores thus rendering Hyper Threading unnecessary. You could upgrade to 4th generation Haswell, however that won't provide a performance gain either; Ivy Bridge and Haswell are both 22nm anyhow. Upgrading to Haswell would require a new motherboard too, which in my opinion is pointless. Upgrading to Haswell isn't necessary as many gamers still utilise Ivy Bridge (and elder), including myself. I haven't seen the need to upgrade to Haswell. My Ivy Bridge CPU is still solid, and likewise for your i5.

To conclude you should be fine to run games with your current system, and you should not need to upgrade yet.

All the best. :)
