Do you notice any new vibration when it is making the noise, and is it constant or occasional. If you are getting vibration the heads "could" be making contact with the platter, and you will want to backup what you can before it fails. Could also be a bearing starting to go. You should go to the manufacturers website and see if they offer any diag tools to see if that reports any problems.

What he was asking is if the mounting screws have become loose, which can lead to vibration and odd noises.

Your hard drive is screwed into your case, and I fixed a guy's problem with a vibrating hard drive once because a screw was loose and the spinning disk caused it to shake.

How many hard drives do you have in the system? I have 3 mechanical drives and sometimes if they get spinning just right it will make lots of noise, a power cycle usysally resolves that. And touching the case you should feel a little vibration (if you have rubber grommets around the mounting screws this will be lessened, but still present), just not an excessive amount.
