The Crosshair V is 8+2 phase power (like the Gigabyte) and out of price range, but the Asrock's 12+2 phase power is impressive. But we are trying to keep the price down so we can spend more on the gfx solution. Is there a serious benefit to going with greater than 8+2 with the 125W FX-8350?
Also, I've always felt that Gigabyte built better boards than Asrock. Am I mistaken?

OK. I'm throwing the Asrock board into the mix.
I see you have recommended the MSI 970 Gamer in other posts. At ~$100 it would leave a nice chunk of change for adding to the graphic solution. Any idea what the phase power is on it and if it is worthy of consideration?

Btw, is there any link you can provide about the thermal issues with the Gigabyte board? My old Gigabyte Z68 has been flawless even with some crazy OCs that I should never have tried

Hmmm... slower Hyper Transport, but good price. Another board to consider as per price/performance.
At 6+2, the MSI 970 gamer is out for now. But the 970 UD3P is interesting, except for the slower HT.
