Hi, I just bought 2nd hand another gigabyte windforce r9 290 for crossfire. As soon as it gets any load on it temps go straight to 80 degrees and drop rapidly when idle again. My first card is nothing like this. It hits these temps when it is the only card installed also.Is it a dodgy card and should I send it back, thanks.

I'm honestly not sure what to tell you then, I guess it was auctioned for a reason.. Anyhow, 80-85 is still not a 'dangerous' temperature so you don't have to worry much, especially that it's an AMD card and those can handle pretty high temperatures. You're safe.

Hope you have a good day.

I wouldn't be that worried about that kind of temperature, although you should RMA it if you're too worried. If the second card does the same issue, then you should look further into the issue. I've never had any experience with crossfiring, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make your temperature jump that much.

Let me know if you have any questions.

The problem is I bought it used from auction site everyone loves. It's just my other exact card has a gradual temperature increase but this one shoots straight to 80-85 degrees wether I have just it or both cards in my tower
