I recently did a custom build and since i got it up and running, i have been experiencing crashes frequenty while running certain programs.

cpu: AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 220W Desktop Processor
mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way
memory (x2): G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL
gpu: Asus R9 280x
ssd (with os): SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
hd: WD black caviar 7200rpm 1TB (for files and larger games installed)
cpu heatsink: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler
PSU: LEPA MaxBron B1000-MB 1000W ATX CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

CPU TEMP: 7-20 (idol), 40-65 (stress) have the above mentioned heatsink with two fans
GPU TEMP: 20-30(desktop), 55-70max (gaming)
nzxt case came with 4 fans as well.

I have completed mem tests with no erros, took out the memory and moved them around and this problem still occors. the program NEVER freezes. its always the entire system that freezes up while im using certain programs.

before it froze up today while using the program ableton, the system folder in event viewer showed about a dozen warnings of this specific warning right before it froze.

I would do that in the bios instead of AMD overdrive. Go into the bios and set it to "Load Optimized Defaults". Save and reboot. Then go into the bios upon reboot and go into "PC Health" and disable smart fan everywhere you see it. This will make the fans attached to your motherboard headers run at full rpm.

i havent touched the bios at all. or overclocked. i have only allowed the amd overdrive for my gpu to make the cooling fans faster but thats it. i dont mess with any ofher settings.

Mainly the answers above mine should help you out but to make sure try these things.
First disable turbo core technology at bios and check if problem persists.
If it does keep it turned off and check the voltages on the CPU, these latest amds cpu are very demanding and maybe you need to make sure LLC is on medium settings for your mobo to mke sure Vdrop doesnt cause the processor to fail.
Lastly make sure your mobo bios is up to date! Go to your mobos brand webpage and download the latest bios.

IF none of this works or the fix on LLC (load line calibration) works you should still contact the place where you bought the cpu and mobo and check if you have a hardware problem because auto settings shouldnt have problems with your setup.

That board is a monster. That or a Sabertooth R2 are a good match with his CPU.

Yes, im not denying that, im just saying LLC can provide enough power for Vdroop caused on the system and keep up the voltage for the demanding cpu.

Great, thats good news. If you want to enable turbo on the processor please consider downloading cpuz and watch if on load core voltage goes down..
If it does it might be the cause of your crashes and instability. Try then setting LLC on the motherboard bios to medium and check voltages again.
Glad the guys could help you out.
