External USB HD Indicator Flashing

I have a WD external USB 3.0 hard drive (A My Passport Ultra) connected to my computer. When I shutdown my computer, the hard drive indicator light continues to blink at a slow (maybe every second or two) pace and does not stop. Anyone have any idea what a possible cause is? Thank you

I have one of these drives, the 1 TB capacity. I notice the same exact behavior, with no issue for the drive. I believe it is due to the USB port receiving power, even with the computer powered down, while it is plugged in. When the power strip is turned off, the light stops blinking. If it bothers you, just unplug your computer or turn off the power strip.
