The voltage one set of ram has a voltage of 1.65 and the other one is 1.5v other then that the lantacy is case 9, both sets are 1600, pc3-12800. The only differnce between the two sets is voltage and one is a 16gb set the other is 8 gb. my motherboard has 4 slots. Right now i have the 16gb sticks in and I want to put the 8gb sticks in but im worried since they have different voltages it might hurt?

More about : brands ram specs difference

It's best to use identical modules to ensure compatibility.

You can only use one voltage at a time.

Your 1.65V RAM should work fine at 1.5V but may require slower timings for stability.

While many people recommend against mixing DIMM models, it should still work most of the time - albeit at the expense of having to run the memory configuration at the most conservative settings of the bunch.

The timings and everything are the same just one brand is having a higher voltage. So I guess I will just wait wait until my work stocks more 16gb sticks before I add more. Or save for a new cpu

The timings might be the same with your 1.65V DIMMs at 1.65V but if you dropped voltage to 1.5V, your 1.65V DIMM might not be able to work at those timings anymore but might work if you add +1 to some/all timings or possibly cut back to 1333.
