You need to calculate how much power the components in your system will use (http://www.coolermaster.outervision.com/advance.jsp).
As for the quality of the power supply unit itself, look at reviews by jonnyguru, hardocp, anandtech, or any other good reviewer.

I always look at the hardware components and at least get a psu that can handle 133% at minimum that way you can plug in as many hd's and dvd/bdrom drives as well as a sli without any problems.
