Hello everyone I just installed a Corsair CX500 500w PSU and I was thinking about adding a single HD 7950 as an upgrade from my GTX 560 and i was wondering if my 500w PSU will be enough I will not be overclocking my system at all

my system is as follows

Motherboard: MSI P67A-C43 B3
CPU: Intel core i5 2500k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60
RAM: G.skill 8gb DDR3 1600
GPU: EVGA GTX 560 SC 2gb
PSU: Corsair CX500 500w

any insight will be much appreciated

For a system with a GTX 560 it is recommended the PSU has 500W, 24A on the +12v rail and two 6pin connectors.

The CX500 has enough to cover these requirements. For the system you describe, the CX500 is a good fit. If you were looking to buy a new one, there are others I'd recommend at that price point, but as you already have it, it will be just fine.

ok, thanks for the insight that makes me fell a little bit better about my system as of right now but would my PSU be enough to upgrade to a 7950 or even use a 2nd GTX 560 in SLI?

Yes, your power supply does have enough to power a system with a 7950. However, I wouldn't try and run the gtx560 in SLI with that power supply.

Here is a great page that gives rough estimates on how many watts are needed to power any given GPU
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm

It does overestimate a little, as it has to in order to make up for low end PSUs.
