Was working fine with Dell laptop, then started making clicking sounds and now computer does not recognize it, no lights on the unit, unit still clicks for a short while when 1st plugged in.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Is Seagate noted for these problems?

I don't know about that specific model but I've had two external Seagate drives fail in a relatively short period of time (less than 6 months) in the past. However, I do have an external drive that is not Seagate branded but contains a Seagate drive and it has performed well for 3+ years and is still working. As digitaldoc said the drive has failed and if under warranty you should be able to get a replacement.
