How will the new R9 285 hold up with an FX-6300 processor? Is it to early to know if there will be bottlenecking issues between these two?

Thanks!

Solution
The R9-285 should be between the R9-280 and R9-290. I would say that is about the max for that processor w/o bottleneck if it is OC'd a bit. I have another gamer with a Phenom II X4 965BE @ 4.0 GHz running a R9-280 w/o bottleneck... so far. The FX-6300 should be in that class of CPU.

R9 285> R9 280> R 290 If Im correct. There should be no bottleneck since Fx is the Vishera chip far more capable than old Phenom chips!

Actually, the FX-6300 with its 3 Bulldozer modules is about in the same class as the Phenom II X4 965BE with its 4 discrete cores for gaming. I doubt you could tell the difference. Tom's Hierarchy chart rates the FX-6300 in the same tier as the 3.4 GHz Phenom II X4 965BE at stock speeds.

OC'ing both will increase their performance about equally. I have built with several of both processors and find that to be exactly the case.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-965-vs-AMD-FX-6300 Just scroll down. In every test fx 6300 is superior than 965!
Phenom II x4 965 will for sure bottleneck r9 285! I know it from my experience; with most of the games you WILL experience hardware lag.
So I sold my phenom II x4 965be and got the fx 6300 and now I can play every single game (with r9 280) on ultra settings without bottleneck and frame rate lag! clutch sory m8 New microarchitecture, new level of performance - named Piledriver(Visherea).http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286

Obviously your experience was different than mine. My Phenom II X4 965BE at 4.0 GHz with 4 real cores was indistinguishable from my FX-6300 when both used the R9-280 @ 1080p. But yes, those on-paper results do give the FX-6300 the edge.
