Hello everyone, my first post so be gentle, although ive been a lurker for years but now i myself need the wisdom ive seen on here with my Xonar DX sound card, ill try my best to explain issue cuz it is a weird one honsetly so i apologize if this is long, i jus wanna cover all my bases.
Ok so first off, card is installed and i have a pair of Astro a50s im using with it on pc. I am using the TO-slink hookup. My default speakers are also hooked into the sound card. Here is where issue comes, if i try to make the sound come through just the s/pdif which is where the optical cable/toslink is hooked up at, i cant see the Audio Channel selection, its just simply blank. If i hook my speakers back into sound card, the options to change audio channels comes back. Note though i still get sound even when Audio Channel is blank through headset but i cant select how many channels i want unless speakers are hooked up.
Ive tried every combination i can think of to just use the s/pdif by itself without having to have speakers hooked up but nothing seems to work. Ive double checked and checked some more and all is working correctly and to my knowledge setup right.
When i google this issue i come across nothing like this which def makes me think im over looking something and honestly afraid im not explaining it clear enough cuz its def a weird issue.
Im not even sure if im getting 7.1 sound with how its been acting like this.
Ok just did something by accident....My speakers are unplugged and in Sound options, i normally use S/PDIF Pass through device ( Asus xonar dx audio device) and if i want sound to come through speakers i enable Speakers (Asus xonar dx audio Device). Well my speakers are unplugged and i disabled S/PDIF and select speakers and i have sound coming through my Headset......My astro transmitter option in Sound is also disabled and ugh..i honestly just dont know what to do at this point or even what the problem is....
Any help would be appreciated and sorry its so long and possibly confusing...cuz thats the problem, its confusing and im ok and knowing the basics of pc but this has me stommped, well anyway ty in advance for any info guys, take care.
