You could pretty easily drop to a standard i5-4690 and lose the cooler and swap out for a good H97 mobo if you aren't interested in overclocking for a build something like this:

your computer is roughly equivalent to a current entry level gaming rig with an athlon x4 750k and a gtx750ti. its decent enough to play games at 1080p somewhat equal to a ps4/xbone, but if you crave more performance, your going to need a whole new system.

$2300 is a whole lot to spend on a computer. for almost half that amount you can get an extremely reliable and strong computer with choice parts that is easily capable of very high level 1440p performance.

though listed higher than $2300, the gtx780s are going to drop in price as soon as the gtx800 series come out which might be next month, and the haswell-e i7-5xxx processors are coming out too which would likely see a drop in ivy bridge-e processors like the 4930k listed so you could expect the overall system price to drop roughly $100-150 depending on when you plan to purchase.

or the gtx880 will be slightly cheaper but also much more energy efficient in which case you could save another $30 by dropping down to a $99 xfx pro series gold 750w power supply.

Solution
You have an ample budget for gaming rig. No need for i7/Xeon if it is only for gaming. 4k is personal choice.
