I want to have fan control so I am planning to buy a phantek fan hub. Just some questions before I start ordering.

Does the fan hub support 3x120mm intake and 3x140mm exhaust? Is it safe to run that many fans on the hub?

Does the hub have a sata cable that connects directly to the PSU?

And does the hub connect to the motherboard through a 3 pin?

Sorta off topic but what kind of 2x140mm fans can I get for $20?

Solution
1. The fan hub supports up to eleven 3 pin fans when controlled from a PWM MoBo header.

2. All fans connected to the hub will run at the same % of full speed .... In other words, if your 120s are 1800 rpm and your 140s are 1200 rpm, then if your fan control curve calls for 3/4 speed at a certain temp, your 120s will spin at 1350 and your 140s will spin at 900

3. There is a SATA power cable

a. If using a PWM Header, you don't need to connect it unless the total amps of all the fans on the hub exceeds 1 amp.

b. If using a DCV (DC Voltage) header if you connect the SATA power cable, your fans will spin at full speed. This makes perfect sense as DCV control means varying the voltage from the header from 5v for min. speed to 12v...

Honorable
go for the NZXT Grid+ I think, I have one for my H440 and it works flawlessly. It connects to the motherboard through an internal USB2 header and it's incredibly customisable through the CAM software.
The Phanteks should work fine too, but I can confirm the Grid+ works flawlessly in the H440. :)

This makes perfect sense as DCV control means varying the voltage from the header from 5v for min. speed to 12v for max speed. If you connect a 12v poser source, well 12v = full speed. Again, do not let the number of fans connected to any DCV Header exceed 1 amp.

Using Asus Maximus Formula as an example ....

Z87 has two PWM Headers (CPU and CPU_OPT), three CHA (DCV) headers and three OPT (DCV) headers
Z97 has two PWM Headers (CPU and CPU_OPT), and IIRC six other PWM capable headers which can be set in BIOS to either PWM or DCV

4. You can connect to the MoBo with the provided 4 oin cable to any 4 or 3 pin MoBo header

5. You can get 2 of these which the best 140mm fans currently available ($15 - $5 rebate)
