So I have a video system with multiple Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboards. Recently we added a New Mac Pro to the mix. We also added a Black Magic SSD dock as a media source with thunderbolt. Of course I thought I was golden and could add the thunderbolt ex card but then found out it never was released. Has anyone tried the thunderbolt EX II card with a Z77 board to see if it works. Or can someone recommend a compatible board that will take thunderbolt but use the Chip and Ram from the Z77 board.
Thanks
PZ

SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1
SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2
GRYPHON Z97
Z97-PRO
Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi ac)
Z97-A

I looked at the first two boards and this what I found on the MAXIMUS VI EXTREME:
"This motherboard supports Intel® 4th generation Core™ i7/i5/i3/Pentium®/Celeron® processors in the LGA1150 package, with iGPU, memory and PCI Express controllers integrated to support onboard graphics output with dedicated chipsets, 2-channel (4 DIMM) DDR3 memory and 16 PCI Express 3.0/2.0 lanes. The Z87 also has a LGA1150 socket.

This is what I found on the Z77 (LGA1155 socket):
"This motherboard supports Intel® 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processor-based platform and 2nd generation Core™ i7/i5/i3/Pentium®/Celeron® processors, with iGPU, memory and PCI Express controllers integrated to support onboard graphics output with dedicated chipsets, 2-channel (4 DIMM) DDR3 memory and 16 PCI Express 3.0/2.0 lanes."
