M.2 is a port for a tiny SSD in simple language.

There're M.2 SSDs in the market which're expensive as of now but will become more affordable in future, and this port will help in saving space :)

MSI<GigaByte<Asus. Asus and GB both are H97, so you can upgrade to 5th gen in the future if you like. If you're to stay with the current CPU for some years, get B85, its not at all bad :)
