Hi there!

I'm trying to help my rommate to solve a problem with his laptop.

He holds a asus x 54 and he reinstalled windows 7 x64.
Since he installed the GPU drivers video stopped working: he can use the laptop only if it's connected to an external monitor. Screen is almost black but he can see the content by putting a lamp near it (!)...
It's not a hardware issue due to the monitor because it works properly while using the processor , without gpu driver installed...

Graphic card is Amd Radeon HD 6470M.

He lost the windows installation cd , thus he installed the operative system from another ISO and he found out the drivers online, so I suppose they are different from the previous, also because the laptop is an old device (2011).
He had some issue during the installation of them and he has been looking for the drivers by using driver genius but he didn't solve the problem.

Could you help him by linking the old drivers of this graphic card, compatible with the asus x 54[, please?

Or do you recommend other solutions?

Thank you!

Roberta

Roberta, The first thing I would try is to download the Asus OEM drivers to see if that solves the problem. Be sure to do any "chipset" drivers, "video" drivers, etc.. You can typically find these drivers on the Asus site under Support, etc...

Thank you for the answer!

What does "OEM" mean? Do you mean the original drivers released by Asus? I think he installed all but not PCI drivers, because he downloaded the drivers from the Asus site, thus he got the chipset drivers too...

I checked the devices properties and everything appeared ok unless the PCI and another device under "other devices"...

Hi everybody,

I apologize for my non-prompt reply but I didn't receive notice about the new answers to this thread :(

UnfortunateIy cannot answer your question because my roommate finally found his installation cd and solved the problem that way, if I remember correctly.

(I hope your solved your issue as well in the meanwhile...)
