I was told that i have an amd phenom II x4 920 2.8 GHz, and looking in my spec a bit deeper it looks like i have an another cpu similar in performance.
Cpu: AMD Phenom II x4 20 2.8 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 260
Curent Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4
PSU: 500W
I'm interested cann i replace my curent motherboard with an one that supports DDR3 ram and SATA 3 HDD?

Solution

let's see..
Phenom II x4 20 is unlocked version of phenom II x3 720..

well yes..
Phenom II x3 720 is AM3 cpu..
This processor has both ddr2 and ddr3 memory controller built in.. so it will work with any am2+/am3/am3+ motherboard.

that's mean you can replace your current motherboard with an one that supports DDR3 ram and SATA 3 HDD...
