Hi all - I've been looking to build my own gaming PC (on a budget of about £500) for a while, however I can never decide on the parts, no matter how much research I do. I'm not oblivious to computers, however I'm far from an expert, so it gets pretty overwhelming and I really can't get my head around some things. Nevertheless I am still determined to learn and build my own c:

I'm not a mad gamer and I only have a select few that I will want to play on this PC, but I would like said games to run on the highest settings and with mods (including ENBs, texture packs and shaders), but with a minimum drop of 30fps. The main ones are Fallout 3, Minecraft and Half-Life 2.

Could anyone advise me on a rig that would play these games beautifully even with power-hogging mods, but all the while sticking with the budget? I would prefer Windows 7 for an OS, and hardware accessories such as a keyboard and monitor I already have.

Thanks to all who answer c:

Hello, the games you play are not overly GPU or CPU intensive, so the following build will yield you 40+ FPS on Ultra settings on 1080p:

That Pentium can easily OC to 4.2GHz while just increasing the multiplier, and 4.5GHz with some VCore tweaks, the MoBo is one of the best in its range and is Z97 to allow future upgrades to 5th gen as well. GPU will easily yield 50+ FPS on high on latest titles, but considering the games you play, it'll give you 40+ FPS on ultra as well. Chose the most appropriate case, memory, HDD, PSU and OS to not exceed you budget by too much.

Hope this helps :)

+1; this should actually also play newer games at a decent FPS.
