Hi!
I've had a lot of problems with GPU's in my system and I recently received my Windforce Gigabyte Radeon R9 280x OC Edition GPU which worked but failed pretty often on me resulting in everything from error messages, freeze, buzzing noise (through speakers) and BSOD's.
I changed my PCIe generation thing in BIOS from "Auto" to gen2 and the problems disappeared - however there's sometimes a slight stutter in general graphics performance. For instance the sliding animation when you open a new tab in google chrome. I can run BF3 and BF4 on ultra with 60fps no problem but sometimes the fps falls without reason and usually climbs back up after a while (not always) - but mostly it stays stable at 60FPS.
I tried to change it to gen3 which messed everything up making it almost impossible to even logon to Windows 7 Pro and created a very strange BIOS picture - everything was scrambled and weird..
I have yet to try gen1 though. Is there anything I can do about these minor, sudden performance drops??
My parts are as follows:
- Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H motherboard
- Intel Core i7-4770k@4.1GHz liquid cooled by Seidon 240m
- Crucial Ballistix 16GB Sport kit (8x2)
- Windforce Gigaybte Radeon R9 280x OC Edition
- Corsair Force GS 128GB SSD (Windows 7 Pro system)
- Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD (Used for OSX Mavericks - hackintosh)
- Corsair CX750M PSU
- TP-Link WLAN Card
Thanks so much for help!
Sincerely,
Erik
