okay... so my computer had been constantly reminding me to change my hardisk for having the chances of an ''imminent failure''. now yesterday due to reasons i had to format my computer, and now windows is not being able to install itself on a disk ''which is about to fail''.

so is there any way to recover my hard disk? and if not, then which hard disk should i opt for?

my computer: compaq presario cq 3150 ix.
nearly four years old.

There is no way to recover a drive which is about to fail, though you may be able to get some data off it by installing it as a second hard drive on a working system before the drive fails completely. Of course, that won't be necessary if you are in the habit of keeping all your data backed up.

As regards a new one, I use WD hard drives exclusively (had too many early failures with Seagate ones).
